Syntax respects your privacy. This policy explains what information may be processed when you visit syntax.energy and interact with the Syntax Living System.
1. Information we process
Syntax is designed to work without requiring an account. We do not ask visitors to submit names, passwords, addresses, or payment details to use the public organism interface.
Like most internet services, our hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, request timestamps, approximate location derived from network information, and security or diagnostic logs. These records are used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
2. Interaction data
When you contribute energy to the organism, the service records the contribution as part of the organism's shared persistent state. The public system is designed around an anonymous global contribution pool and does not intentionally attach a contribution to your real-world identity.
3. Payments
If paid features are introduced, payment and billing information will be handled through the payment provider presented at checkout. Syntax is not intended to store full payment-card details on its own systems. Payment-specific terms, receipts, taxes, refunds, and billing records may also be governed by the provider's terms and privacy notice.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Syntax may use essential browser storage or similar technologies required for security, functionality, preferences, or service operation. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
5. Service providers
Syntax uses third-party infrastructure to host and operate the service. Depending on the feature being used, this may include Vercel for application delivery and Convex for application data and backend execution. Future payment services may include Polar.
6. How information is used
- to operate and maintain Syntax;
- to secure the service and detect abuse;
- to diagnose errors and improve reliability;
- to provide features you request; and
- to comply with applicable legal obligations.
7. Retention
Technical logs and operational records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which they are collected, including security, troubleshooting, legal, and operational requirements. Persistent organism data may remain as part of the public system's history.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about personal data processed about you. South African users may have rights under POPIA. Requests can be directed to the service operator using the contact details published on this site.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated as Syntax gains features or changes providers. The date above identifies the current version.
10. Contact
Privacy enquiries should be directed through the contact method published on Syntax before commercial launch.
